Kitchen Essentials!!

Lets see… If you are the typical person, breakfast usually will consist of cereal, toast, pop-tart, bagel, or maybe some type of grain bar. All of which are loaded with grains/carbs and are definitely not on the Wild and Primal list, I don’t even care how natural or whole grain they are! In my opinion, you have got to wean yourself off of those types of foods. Why? Well here is a starter list:

  • First and foremost, they are full of carbs. More than likely, a lot of those carbs are from terrible sources like High Fructose Corn Syrup and processed sugar. Even if they were made from a more desirable sugar source, such as Organic Cane Sugar, I would still choose something different to start your day off with. You do have a daily carb limit, don’t you? You will blow your carbs up before 8 a.m. in the morning. A definite no no!!
  • They are all full of grains! Who says grains are good for you? I say, the juice in not worth the squeeze when it comes to grains. Maybe an organic source of grains would be worth it once in a while, but still, I’m shaky about it. Why? From what I can understand, based on the research of multiple studies, todays grains are mostly void of macro nutrients, and micro nutrients. Our soils have been used and abused so much, that there is not a very high level of nutrients in the soils, which directly degrades the quality of matter that grows in the soil. So basically, you get all the carbs, but not much value in nutrients. In other words, it’s like buying and eating grain fed beef. It tastes good, but a cow was not meant to eat large amounts of grains, it makes them unnaturally fat. Plus the grains that they are fed, are mostly created from large producers, who apply fertilizers and pesticides on their crops (where these grains are made from), a lot of these grains have mold and fungus on them when the cows eat the grains, and this process creates nasty results in the quality of meat that you will then eat (such as toxins and low quality nutrients). Organic, grass fed meat in my opinion, is the best. I like to eat as much deer meat as possible, in my opinion, that is about as organic and wild as it can get.

Sorry to get off topic there… Back to the kitchen now. Just remember, your DNA is not written for a high carb diet. It tastes good, but the value in nutrients is just not there compared to the carb content. Also, your pancreas is being overworked every time you feed yourself carbs. You were meant to eat mostly fats (good sources like olive oils, coconut oils, grass fed animal fats, and wild fish fats, not vegetable oils), and proteins (from good quality sources like grass fed animals, wild fish, etc.).

So what can we eat then…. Well, I talk to so many people about my lifestyle, and they say they hate to cook, or don’t have the time. I understand, I don’t have a lot of time to cook either, although I do enjoy cooking. I have a job, family, hobbies, etc.. I live in the real world too! I don’t have people cook for me and all of that. I do it all myself, not my wife, or anyone else. So how do I do it?

First of all, you have to get away from all of the “feel good foods”, and retrain your taste buds to be happy with better quality/no high carb foods. Believe me, it can be tough. It can take some time. You will fall off the wagon several times, and want to quit, but don’t! I promise, if you stick with it, that bread, burger and fries, and everything else bad will become less of a desire, and more of a evil sooner than later.

To make things easy, try to stick with meats, eggs, and vegetables to start with. The better quality meat you can get your hands on the better (wild meat, organic grass fed meat, no nitrate or nitrite ham and lunch meats). Eggs are best if organic and free range (I use eggs from my own chickens, wild and non pasteurized), but if that’s not available go for the most natural and organic sources that you can find. Vegetables should all be organic, in order to stay away from the nasty pesticides that are used, that play havoc on your hormone profile (and overall health).

I love my Kitchen Aid Blender.

It is quick, and very easy to clean up. I use it for making my breakfast, and other drinks. My typical breakfast is 1 egg (from my awesome chickens!), 1 cup of raw cow milk, half of an organic banana, 1 teaspoon of organic/unheated honey, 1 teaspoon of organic chia seeds, and a dash of organic cinnamon. I blend all of this together (raw), and it makes the best drink, much like a milk shake!

Here is a video of another one of my favorite drinks, made with the blender.

I make several other drinks with this as well, the sky is the limit. I also have a juicer, but always hated discarding all of the pulp. I actually like the pulp/fiber. I use the Kitchen Aid Blender for all of my drinks involving “softer” vegetables. Cucumbers and tomatoes work great!

I am working on getting all of my recipes together into a comprehensive guide. Until then, I plan to throw a few out in my blogs.

I know what it feels like to watch cancer steal the people you love. My mom is battling melanoma, I lost my dad and grandma to pancreatic cancer, and most recently lost my grandpa to colon cancer. Those experiences lit a fire in me — I wanted to know if cancer was truly just "genetic fate," or if there was something we could actually do about it. Through my own health struggles, I discovered the power of a primal, sustainable lifestyle: eating real food, moving in ways that build strength, and creating a body that’s far less inviting to disease. Now, I coach people who share the same fears I once had — those with cancer in their family history who want to take back control of their health. My mission is simple: help you defend your future by building a body cancer hates, so you can stack the odds in your favor and live with strength, confidence, and peace of mind.
